File Explorer shows the EXIF information (e.g., the Camera model, Dimensions, etc.,) in the Details pane. However, on some systems, the metadata may appear completely empty.
On some systems, if you rename the JPG file to JPEG, JPE, or JFIF, the EXIF data shows up correctly.
The result is the same if you enable the metadata columns in the Details view of File Explorer. This may happen even though JPG files are associated with the default Photos app.
Resolution
To fix the JPG metadata (EXIF) issue in File Explorer, do the following:
Open an admin Command Prompt.
Run the following command:
regsvr32.exe photometadatahandler.dll
You should see the following output:
DllRegisterServer in photometadatahandler.dll succeeded.
Log off and log back in.
That should take care of the issue.
